4th Sequences. Interval Sequence Lesson
Yesterday I showed you how to practice playing through the C major scale using thirds and now it is the turn of the fourth interval. If you read the previous lesson then you probably have a good idea about how these interval sequences are done. Fourths have a very modern and open sound to them but they are pretty tricky to play on guitar due to the nature of the instrument. If you play piano or any other instrument then you shouldn’t have too much trouble with these sequences.
Ok so lets quickly take a look at how the 4ths interval sequence looks on paper. I am going to use the C major scale again as an example.
C major in 4ths
C, F, D, G, E, A, F, B, G
Below you can see how to play the 4ths sequence through the C major scale. I have added guitar tab along with the regular notation.

I hope you have fun playing and learning these sequences. They are definitely worth taking some time to learn because they will help lead you into some more creative scale playing and make you music just that little bit more interesting. In the next lesson, as you may have already guessed, I am going to take a look at how you can use the 5ths intervals in your playing.
